If you have a wish list for Santa, you have until Dec. 15 to send it to him via a letter and dropped off in a special mailbox in Saline.

The mailbox, bright red and adorned with paintings of Kris Kringle, sits on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Ann Arbor Road.  Sponsored by the Saline Chamber of Commerce, it has been a Christmas tradition spanning back at least 24 years.

“The magic of Christmas and believing in Santa Claus [keeps the tradition strong].  It’s a fun thing and I think kids are excited to get a response from Santa,” said Mary Alice Smith.

The mailbox gets upwards of 500 letters a year.
